Administration

Dana Mae Abrams, Principal of King Elementary

My name is Dana-Mae Abram and I am extremely excited to bring 11 years of experience as an elementary teacher in grades 2-6, teaching all subject areas as well as experience in administration. Math and ELA Content Leader roles as well as Professional Development Coordinator are also a part of my educational career. M.L. King Elementary is where I also have served as a teacher, Vice Principal and now the proud Principal. Finally, I refined my administration skills through Kansas City PLUS (Pathway to Leadership in Urban Schools) where I received training, practice, coaching, and feedback. My confidence lies in the fact that our staff will be dedicated to this awesome work of cultivating the scholars of today and leaders of tomorrow who are prepared for college and the career of their choice.

I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Missouri Southern State University as well as my Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. I am also a wife as well as a mother of four beautiful and intelligent children. I enjoy singing, cooking and playing basketball. My goal is to manage a safe and respectful environment that is challenging, invites the sharing of ideas, and is non-threatening for all. As an administrator, I will cultivate the skills of educators while building their capacity and preparing them to be leaders of tomorrow as well as assist educators to become successful in the classroom through data driven instruction.
